Default Armagh man jailed for attempting to pay for sex!

Not quite as it seems or as expected.

So she wasn't even an escort!
It was just some tool harassing a woman

So much for the clowns on here talking about how they knew the guy
    and all about the case

Not sure if you're illustrating what happened in the case
    or hitting on me

Either way the answer is yes

Mis-reported, misuse of new "law", why wasn't he prosecuted under law for soliciting or importing?

Abysmal prosecution and even worse reportage.

What do you expect from the BBC. They lie all the time and demand a license fee of anyone who has a TV.

A prosecution under a Public Order Offence, I would have thought, would have been more appropriate. I think he was just being a bollox and being a public nuisance (and looks like not for the first time) rather than genuinely trying to pay for sex.

If they are going to jail everyone who acts the bollox and is a public nuisance the jails will fill up pretty quick................

I really hope there is more to this story as it appears grossly unfair. Abuse of the law from what Ive read

This is laughable. Wasn't the new law supposed to be about reducing human trafficking? Instead, it was used to jail someone who was being a public nuisance, more than anything else. Yet, the BBC doesn't report the fact that this is a strange and unintended use of the new law; they simply report it as a successful conviction in court.

For those who haven't realised yet; this man would still have been jailed if he had done this in England, where the purchase of sexual services is not illegal. He would have been jailed under offences relating to kerb-crawling or soliciting in public instead.
