Thread: Any plumbers around?

    Unhappy Any plumbers around?

This sounds like a straight up porno plot. Shower isn’t working in my apartment. Have twisted every knob and pressed every button I can imagine and still no luck.

    Help!

    Call the landlord Miss Clarke.

I could pop over and have a look. I'm currently eating dinner in the lounge in the gym?

If power is on everywhere else in the house, switch lights on and off to see, it might have been a power surge that tripped some circuit breakers. Find the circuit panel, which we used to call the fuse box

All the breakers (which look similar to a light switch) should be the same direction, usually fully up. Find the one labelled shower and push it down, then up again. Sometimes they look on but didn't fully trip, so they're off. Also check to see if there's a switch outside the bathroom which controls the power shower, usually has a red light on it.

Yep, pump is on. The water is coming from the bath tap fine, but the knob you pull up to make it come through the shower head isn’t working at all!

is it slipping back down when you pull it up?
a lot of those knobs can get unscrewed over time and then they won't stay up
    tightening them usually works

The pump possibly wouldn't be related to water coming from the tap, that would be gravity fed. The system of pulling a knob to divert water from tap spout to showerhead sounds a little old fashioned for IFSC apartments in my opinion, but I may be wrong.
Does the knob you pull just fall directly down again when you let go? Is there any sound of water being diverted even for an instant when you pull it up? If not it may have become loose, detatched from the diverter within the spout.
