Your location can be triangulated to a radius of a few miles if you have the right equipment.

Without some fairly expensive equipment and some serious expertise it is very unlikely they could get your location from a text.
However, if you are using Watsapp, Viber or another similar messaging app, and you have location switched on, then your location may be tagged on to the message.
Just check your settings and make sure location is switched off!
