That really depends on the reason for working. I plan on retiring from my current career no later than 60 but I'll still be keeping plenty active with other activities that generate an income, not because I'll need to, because I want to. If you view your work as a necessity that needs to be done to pay bills and keep a roof over your head, then working at 74 is a very grim situation. If it's something you do for the pure enjoyment of it that also generates an income (that you don't particularly need) then why the hell not.

Depends a lot on the work. I retired very early and went back. But then a camera is not heavy, a sandwich board is a c###.
