I'm not sure that "society" views them the way you describe, and certainly now that I have met escorts, there is no comparison. I know there are exceptions to every rule, but some of my stereotypes of porn stars include:

Frequently unsafe sex.
Usually too much silicone, make-up and Botox going on.
Reciting dumb lines to someone else's script
The lowest rung of their business, with little control.

In general escorts that I have met present themselves with taste and elegance, are super-careful about safe sex, are smart and interesting, and in control of their own business.
