The woman is mainly to blame knowing well she wasn't going to commit suicide as she took a parachute, but hoping that her husband would jump to his death.
Not knowing, the husband chickened from jumping, but it doesn't making him a coward, but it has gave him second thoughts about living, but it has also taught him a lesson that he knows that he cannot trust his wife anymore and may expect her to try and kill him in the near future.
And now he knows the wife had betrayed him, he will be the one asking for a divorce and getting as far away from her as possible.

About the same as that other thread where guy books escort and who shows up but his wife, love to see that in court, but I was wondering had her parachute cords been tampered with you know a little goes a long way in frayed relationships or parachute cords.
