Full time score 28-21. Scotland gave it their best shot in the 2nd half but the damage had already been done. So Japan qualify for the QFs for the first time ever and the Scots for only the 2nd time in WC history have will be packing their bags for the flight home after the pool stage. I imagine that a few of them have played their last international match and it`s quite likely Gregor Townsend has coached Scotland for the final time as well.

Yeah , well done japan. Never thought they would beat Ireland and Scotland. Will be a good game between them and SA. Wonder if they can repeat heroics of last World Cup

Im glad they got opportunity to play the game. They are a poor team. Had they not got opportunity to play they would always have felt they were denied quarter final place because of weather, rather than the fact that they’re shite

set up nicely for Schmidt to be the hero walking off into the sunset (if we can do them), leading Ireland to victory into the sF and reaching the SF for the first time, beating his own nation.
Would almost guarantee him a crack (not that he wouldnt have a chance anyway) of managing the all blacks.

Would be a nice send off for him & Best.

At the end of the pool stage matches the leading points scorer is Yu Tamura of Japan with 48 points, who has also scored the most penalties with 10 and the leading try scorers are Kotaro Matsushima of Japan and Josh Adams of Wales with 5 tries each.

Absolutely , Schmidt and Best have brought Irish rugby to a new level I know it’s a massive ask but wouldn’t it be unbelievable to have a repeat of soldiers field Chicago

In a World Cup it`s a whole different ball game and, based on their overall performances in 2019, I wouldn`t be too optimistic of an Irish victory. There is also the fact that the All Blacks will have had an extra week`s rest due to their match against Italy being cancelled but I suppose anything can happen on the day.

I think Japan`s main target in this tournament was to qualify for the QFs which they have done in style and anything after that is a bonus for them. I would expect the Springboks to win next weekend but who knows for sure. We will find out soon enough.
