You would have thought that in a country that is prone to Typhoons that there would have been contingency plans in the event of disruption to either play on a later date(1 day or perhaps 2 later) or a different location ? It's probably a logistical nightmare to do so but surely in the World Cup finals all games should be played.

Yes. World Rugby are in the midst of a storm (forgive the pun) over this. Apparently the Scottish Rugby Union are considering taking legal action to force the match to be played in a different stadium or date if the weather conditions don`t allow it to go ahead as scheduled. Absolutely farcical situation and has done massive harm to the image of rugby when the tournament should be a showpiece for the sport.

I agree totally. How long have they known that they were hosting the tournament? And they still had to cancel the games. What happens if the typhoon comes back for the quarter final games?

Japan were awarded the World Cup back in 2009 so a full decade. As regards the quarter finals, the rule is that knockout matches which have to be called off are rescheduled but, as we have seen, that doesn`t apply to pool matches.

Italy made a very good point if NZ needed to win to progress would the game be called of Steve Hansen and Eddie Jones were very smug talking about player and spectator safety

if Ireland v Samoa had been cancelled both teams would have got two points. meaning Japan would qualify for QF.All Scotland would have had to do then was beat Japan to get to the QF, thats why Townsend was all for the rules a few days ago.
when the typhoon changed direction and now threatens the Scotland game, (and would eliminate Scotland if they got 2 points) he has thrown the rule book out the window and is demanding the Scotland v Japan game be played. They are saying it could be played behind closed doors now which is fair enough imo
