Default Stephen Fry faces blasphemy probe after God comments

Gardai have launched an investigation after a viewer claimed comments made by Stephen Fry on a TV show were blasphemous.

Officers are understood to be examining whether the British comedian committed a criminal offence under the Defamation Act when he appeared on RTE in 2015.

    FFS.

There had been an attempt by The Secular Society to provoke legal action to show how ridiculous this law is but they didn’t succeed.

Now it seems Stephen Fry has succeeded by accident.

There is no chance of this ever seeing court, let alone getting a conviction.
Another stupid “trophy law” on the books just to placate a few people.

The biggest thing I love about Irish is the oft repeated refrain of some of them, that they are embarrassed to be Irish if some scandal or other ineptitude comes to light.
Nothing to do with me if some gang of hick micks in Sydney are booze cruising, nor am I responsible for what went on 50 years ago.

If you were Irish you'd care.

When I hear reports of drunken Irish in Sydney it makes me want to strangle their parents.

God damn it, have you no sensitivity, every second day Homer tanks up on Duff beer and tries to strangle me(luckily slow and stupid runs in his genes).

I don't accept collective responsibility or "shame" as a nation for what certain individual citizens may do.
That smacks of small country, the neighbours are looking at us syndrome.
    Whatever will they think.

Holy balls, that's way too rational a statement for this neck of the woods.

I've lived abroad with Irish folk, it's horrible.
