My small town use to be pretty good with genuine ladies advertising, mostly agency but at least you got to see the girl on the advert most of the time but now, 13 girls currently advertising, only 6 of those with verified pictures and only 3 that allow reviews so basically for me there might aswell only be 3 advertising. I'd say until things settle down, it'll probably be that way.

make the effort and travel fella, if I lived in a small town with big gossip, I would never see "local" girls, especially with the new law

From my experience of the small towns (and the large cities) in my area, this phenomenon seems to come and go. The "iffy" girls probably know each other and are usually are part of a "collective" who "mix and match". In other words, when you arrive you get to meet whichever escort is there, not necessarily the girl you rang. Sometimes the girl does exist and is busy, and has simply been replaced by another girl. Sometimes the girl does not exist at all (picture from internet etc.).
Eventually, people catch on what is happening and they move on.

I am not convinced this is a recent development (not in my area anyway).

I have confidence most of "the good escorts" know what they are doing and are discreet and do know what precautions to take.
