Bluetooth is allowed, however if you use say google maps on your phone & have to touch your phone to get directions, it's classed as using a mobile phone whilst in charge of a moving vehicle, therefore the same penalties apply. If your phone is not mounted & you have your phone on your lap & you are looking at it to get directions, then once again you are liable to getting fined.

In memory of an awesome woman Laura Lee RIP
It's so difficult to articulate just how much she meant. Inspirational, brave and irreplaceable - our hero.
Please do what you can for her daughter. Deeply appreciated.

It was much safer to text on the old nokias. You wouldn't even need to look at your phone and just text using feel and count.
But in saying that I'm glad the old nokias are gone, getting video/ pictures via snapchat or WhatsApp is a huge advancement .
The laws an Ass, most new cars have touch screens to operated the radio/satnav and connected phone and there are far more distracting than using the actual phone or changing the channel on the radio!! All cars with integrated touchscreens should be banned of the road, but I guess the motoring lobby group would not be best pleased.

I cannot under stand why with modern technology that an inhibitor of sorts can be put into the phone that restricts its use whilst in the driving seat and the ignition engaged. We can spy on people from satellites in space to the extent of reading a number plates, so surely this is achievable. .
