    |Does it mean a court appearance? Or can they issue a fine through the post? If people can opt for a fixed fine and avoid a court appearance then most will take that route, I imagine.
But the real deterrent is in the humiliation of a court appearance and it's consequences.

    I found this: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-ir...-idUSKBN1621UB

Under the new law which came into force on Wednesday, anyone convicted of using a prostitute in Ireland faces a maximum fine of 500 euros ($525) for a first offense and 1,000 euros for a second. Anyone who uses a trafficked woman faces up to five years in jail.

Is that it so? 500 euro fine, or does this go on criminal record?
I really would like to know the consequences, don't mind paying a fine but court appearance would be a disaster.

Not necessarily true. It would be interesting what the courts would say if their was a written signed contract.
