A problem with money is there is no real "base" value. Like how an average human "foot" is a base unit in length. A "pound" in weight was originally 7,000 troy grains. 0 degrees is freezing temperature for water and 100 degrees is temperature at which water boils. Money is just a number.

Some people use the price of eggs, or bread, or oil as a base currency. I honestly, swear on my life, think of things in terms of prostitutes. :P A half hour typical prostitute.

"That car would be fifty prostitutes".
"That coffee is almost 1/15th prostitute".
"That supermarket bill was just over 1/3rd of a prostitute".
"These jeans are 2/3rd of a prostitute"

    etc. :P
