Default How sex work has changed in the last 25 years

Does anyone remember how crap and expensive using escorts was in Belfast the 1990s before the internet and mobile phones?
There was only street workers when I started out. I lost my virginity to one such. She was attractive, young and had a nice figure but it was hopeless. £40 for BJ and £60 for sex. Dry pussy, dry conversation, condom broke. Pointless.
After a few encounters I met someone nice, got a home phone number and we had a few sessionsat one of her friends’ houses in Larne. £140 per hour. That’s £315 in today’s money.
I started shagging real girl friends at that point so lost touch.
I had some experience of the London walk-ups and telephone box prostitute cards. Initially seemed cheap at £35 but not long before I realised a typical session was about 5 to 10 min. And I lost money to a couple of con artists.
When I started again in Belfast late 90s we had the Sunday Sport. Full page of 2 line classifieds for all UK. No photos. Ads just read “SPICE 21, massage, 0777722888” or similar. Guess work and a few phone calls were required.
The first internet escorts cost a clean fortune, and the ads looked fake. www.geminiescorts.co.uk I think.
As recently as 10 years ago it was still the Sunday Sport and some yahoo user groups for reviews. EI existed then but there were only a handful of girls and prices were about £200.
I was able to afford my first EI escort in 2010 £50 special for a full half hour. She was Scottish. There were only 5 other EI escort adds that evening.
Not long after that the market to me seemed to be swamped with foreign girls and the prices crashed. Tonight there are 58 Belfast escorts on EI alone.
Not everything was better in the old days.

And in my home town we had a lady that kept a stuffed pheasant in her bay window. The direction the bird pointed indicated whether she was open, busy, or closed.
