Gay marriage is already outlawed up north. Many here partitioned MLAs to vote to change the law, the DUP said no. That's the real discrimination, but legal
You know why so many dragged their feet on that, right? It wasn't all bible bollocks.
Divorce between a man and a woman is relatively simple (I know there's plenty of messy ones, believe me, but on the whole). Custody is easy in the overwhelming majority of cases (the mother) and child support / majority of assets goes to the now primary caregiver. The bias is there [rightly or wrongly].
Imagine in a few years time when legally married gay couples with adopted or biological kids go through a messy divorce. The courts can't just play the 'mother is best card' and actually will have to get off their fat arses look at circumstances then make a reasoned decision, and have to justify that decision. Then in the years following those dads rights groups will start to look and see that little Timmy's 2 dads got divorced and one dad got full custody, why can't a father get full custody in a hetro couple's divorce?
“ 'Gay cake' appeal ruling 'surprisingly straightforward' “ according to BBC’s Legal commentator Joshua Rozenberg
