Any gum test say come and test again in 3 months as that's the time it takes to develop aids or hiv
It is true that that the window period for HIV tests is generally 3 months. This is not the time it takes to develop HIV or AIDS. This is the time it takes to develop the HIV antibodies that the HIV tests detects.
With a 4th generation HIV test, the window period is only 4 weeks, as this is the time it takes to develop the HIV antigens that the test detects.
If you have had no physical sexual contact with anyone, or shared drug paraphernalia with anyone, in the 12 weeks leading up to your test, you will not need to return as the result will be definitive.
Generally speaking, people 'sero-convert' from HIV negative to HIV positive within 2-6 weeks of transmission. If people develop AIDS related illness, it generally takes years. Even then, with the correct medication, it is possible to recover and live a long and healthy life.

Yeah , it is True!!!
If anyone is worried about STI best place to go is st James hospital.. guide clinic they will have you tested and you will know the results within a week.
Hi Whitey,
The GUIDE Clinic at St James is very good, and i think many people from this site have been there and written on this thread about how good the experience was for them.
Finding the right clinic for you depends on a lot of things. Sometimes Dublin is not the easiest place for people to test.
I'm glad you have a place you can go that you feel works for though. That is fantastic!
