Today in 1961 The 6 day battle of Jadotville begins in Katanga Congo. 155 Irish soldiers of the Western Command under command of Comdt Pat Quinlan are attacked and hold off a force of over 4000 inflicting over 500 deaths while Quinlan lost no one suffering only 3 slight injuries. The siege marked the first time since the Irish War of Independence (1919–21) that Irish Army soldiers went into battle against another nation's army.

Watched this the other night on Netflix.
I have to say I felt a huge surge of national pride while viewing it. Well worth seeing

I though Jamie Dornan would have a better southern Irish accent, being from Belfast. Meh, I suppose it is better than having a Yank attempt it.
Movie accents are a bit of a peev of mine.
Favorite one is Michael Fassbender in X-Men: First Class. Starts out with an American accent and gets more wesssht Ireland as the movie goes on.

"I'm the leader of the pack which makes me such a lucky jack. And here they are, they're so appealing, OK dollies do your dealing."
