I agree with AssHunter, I think you could have put it better than "ok this isn't working goodbye". I would think that a bit rude.
I would have said "oh sorry, just remembered I cant make it today, sorry for wasting your time" A little courtsey goes a long way and that way you are also clear about not seeing her today, and therefore wont get the phone calls.
"This isnt working" could be construed as many things
Just a thought, be nice to people and its pays on. Her next client might have got a bad experince because her mood from your encounter could have been off

If I have missed a call & it's within an hour, I usually ring back once, either hang up or if the guy answers, I ask him if he's ok to talk. If it's been over an hour, I usually drop a text saying that I can answer calls at the moment. If the guy doesn't ring back, then I don't contact him. Discretion all the way for me. Personally, I think excessive calls from either party are out of order & not acceptable.

In memory of an awesome woman Laura Lee RIP
It's so difficult to articulate just how much she meant. Inspirational, brave and irreplaceable - our hero.
Please do what you can for her daughter. Deeply appreciated.

Not having the full transcript of the call means you are being very judgemental without having the full facts.Maybe she was being unhelpful, either way , "ok this isn't working, goodbye" is not being rude, and does not seem to warrant the subsequent calls he received. But , as I said before, without knowing what exactly was said, we cannot really comment here.
