Heard a discussion on radio, a week ago, about the possible legalisation of '' recreational''drugs to take the profit from criminal gangs. Ivana Bacik was present.
As usual the failure of alcohol prohibition in America and its enrichment of the mafia was mentioned.
Ivana agreed that prohibition had aided criminal gangs(being a politican she didn't say much about drug legalisation)
She fails to see any possibility of client criminalisation and another type of prohibition potentially playing into the hands of gangs yet again.

Just because she is a professor, it doesn't mean she is the brightest of the bright!
She believes in complete abortion rights for women, but is supporting criminal sanctions including a 6 month sentence for a first offence for women who use their bodies to rent sexual services!
    Ride them on the beaches!

I met Ivana Bacik a year or so ago to talk about a different piece of legislation, she was incredibly condescending. Every time I raised a problem with that bill, instead of listening to my objections, she ignored them, told me why the bill couldn't be changed and that the bill was great and the government was doing a fantastic job. Same crap she's doing with this one. Typically conceited Labour party hack.

Yeah, also heard on radio recently talking about client criminalisation in the Sexual Offences bill and that was pretty much her attitude and with a pat answer for everything.
And very much a mouthpiece for the Labour Party, no matter what.

She has been rejected on several occasions when seeking a Dáil seat!
And her party, The Fake Socialists, got an insight into what people thought of them, when they lost a greater percentage of their seats in the last GE on their previous GE total than FF lost in 2011 based on their 2007 GE total! An astonishing achievement, but that will not bother their grandees, who rode out of Dodge on huge pensions are hocus pocus found themselves back in The Seanad!
    Ride them on the beaches!

Frances Fitzgerald is to seek cabinet approval today, to give Gardai extra powers to intercept the emails and social media accounts of suspected criminals. How loosely the term criminal suspect will be interpreted and what oversight will be placed on the above powers is a matter of conjecture.
This action has ostensibly come about in response to the Kinahan-Hutch gang feud and is supposed to be aimed at terrorist suspects and organized crime.
Emails, Facebook, WhatsApp and Viber will potentially be affected by the above.

This worries me as a civil libertarian on many levels! Does anybody believe that an organization, 2 of whose members were caught recorded on a confiscated video camera, which was subsequently given back (without them realizing they had been recorded!), speculating about what it would be like to rape the woman they had taken the camera from in Rosport and who were also recorded discussing how they would fiddle their overtime, which in my opinion is in that case quite a serious fraud and who were subsequently brought before a board of discipline which found them innocent, will not abuse this power?
It stinks of fascist boot boyism, indeed the stasi would have loved it!
BTW again it's virtually certain to be thrown out by the court of human rights!
And serious criminals would never leave themselves exposed so easily as to be caught by these measures.
    Ride them on the beaches!

Not that Frances or any of the TORL crowd give a flying fuck about human rights, as they clearly indicated when they essentially rubbished Amnesty International's and the World Health Organisation's views that criminalisation is the wrong way to go.

No progress in either house for Sexual Offences Bill this week and as yet it is not included on the list of indicative business for week commencing July 18th. At this stage it would seem that the bill can't pass into law this session which pushes it into the autumn. With a bit of luck it can be frustrated further in the run up to the Christmas recess pushing it into 2017 when hopefully the momentum starting to gather against this Nordic inspired nonsense will have intensified enough to make Justice think again.

They are off on their 10 week holiday, at the close of business next week. If there really was a trafficking issue sure they would have passed relevant updated legislation on it by now! Interestingly, Laura's case will have had its first hearing In The Belfast High court by the end of September, so that could be an interesting new factor
Also IMHO, the country loses nothing by having them not acting the bollocks in the Dáil, off on their jolies, except of course we have to pay for them and at totally obscene levels!
    Ride them on the beaches!
