A small deposit, ahead of time over the phone?

I ask for deposits sometimes. I also ask for people not to make first contact via text, but that doesn't always seem to work either. Mind you, I just got a text asking for for an hour booking including a bath and that was sent at 1am, where I clearly state that I work till 6pm. No one bothers to read the information, so why be surprised when you're asked for something? It's not like anyone knows the score.

Well everyone has the right to do so if they wish. I just can't imagine it from a punters perspective. There are so many scammers out there, so many fakes.. And considering for the average person seeing an escort requires a not insignificant amount of money, the risk there IMO is just too high. Giving a stranger my credit card info? Not going to happen.

Also, and I know we haven't been around THAT long, but we've done a lot of research and talked to a lot of punters and escorts, and that has never come up. If there are escorts doing that, I suspect they are the exception, not the rule.

I would never ask anyone for their credit card information. In order to do that I am also then having to give details myself. There are many ways to get a deposit without going down this route that are anonymous from bitcoin to phone credit. I would never ask a large amount either. To me a deposit is a token amount that shows an intent to meet and not muck about, so you're talking £10 or £20 max depending on the time being booked. Someone who is trying to waste your time or get off on the 'process' of booking, is not going to waste their money for a thrill, where as a genuine potential client is more likely to show their commitment that way, especially when dealing with someone like myself with a lot of good feedback. Plus I give it as an alternative. I don't accept 'pre-bookings' from anyone with no history without a deposit. If they want to call me up 30 mins ahead and book me then (if I'm free at that point) that is perfectly acceptable too. I wouldn't do an outcall without a deposit unless I had met someone before though.

Fair enough I suppose, it just all sounds so unusual to me. I could see a deposit for an outcall, we haven't done that yet.

And don't either if you have any sense.

I would find it unusual to be asked for a deposit when making a booking, even as a new client. I understand weeding out the time wasters, but at the same time there is such a high amount of fakes out there and no accountability. Even for small amounts, as a scammer can be running the same game in multiple places, and it could easily add up. Especially considering it is basically free money to them.

Now, I also understand asking a deposit from clients who have previously been time wasters or backed out of appointments; if you are a client who has done that you have sort of lost some of the privilege of being taken at face value and an escort would probably like more of a commitment before accepting an appointment from you again.

To be fair you are not in the same category as some either. You have a profile on here, so I am guessing you are also able to give a name for a reference and as you are part of a couple, you can also let the person you are meeting talk to you both, which is also confirmation that it's not a wind up. Having someone to vouch for you can make a huge difference. It's when you have a complete stranger trying to book you, or they are trying to book 2 hours or more when you have never met before. That can often be a tell tale sign that it's not real, as they are relying on greed to secure the booking and revelling in having wasted that persons time.

There are also more time wasters (certainly in the North) since the law change, plus heightened awareness and wanting to protect where you are working from, which is more reason for being cautious.

To say someone is a fool for paying a deposit (which another poster did) is complete bollocks. You're only a fool if paying money out to a person who has no history, as in reviews, is not known and you can't check up. Most girls have met at least one poster. PM a poster and ask them if the lady is safe to pay a deposit to and if that isn't an option, then maybe move on, but things are never black and white, so each case should be considered on it's own merits.

I ALWAYS ask for a deposit - for OUT CALLS only though... it usually covers the taxi (return fare)... even so I've got bitten couple of times...

I hate being mucked about. If someone who previously was good lets me down twice in a row then I'm afraid I won't see them again, as I feel that someone who knows me should have more respect. Not so bad if they let me know before the booking time, as life does happen, but if no explanation, it won't be tolerated.

Most clients are happy to book 30 mins ahead the first time and take the risk that I might be busy. Once we have met, then I don't need a deposit and they can pre-book, so yes it does get easier once mutual respect is established.
