Was vaguely listening on radio to people with English accents, living in Ireland for years resenting questions like, '' Where are you from? '' or what brings you here?
Lived in Britain a couple of decades ago and used to hear things like,
''You don't have driving tests over there, do you? ''
What's the definition of an Irish motorcycle?... A car at night with a blown headlight!
    Where are you from?..... Holland?
What's it like living here compared to Ireland?
My reply.. much like here..... to general merriment.

So if you have an English accent and live in Ireland and are asked the question, '' Where are you from? ''... suck it up.

It' s mostly not nosiness or some kind of latent racism.
It's merely small talk, conversation or an expression of interest.

I'm glad Emma got a mention as well (even if it was not the intention of the thread.)
I'm pretty sure Emma has been the cause of a few 'risings' herself over the years, so perhaps the mention was merited

Agree I also lived there in the 80s when it was not popular being an Irishman with Bombs going off .
But I will say that I had some great English friends and found the English to be salt of the earth people.
I still sung republican songs in the Irish clubs at the weekends after 20 pints of Tennents Beer

We are all Irish men on this island full stop end of story. No mater what your allegiances or identity.

Michael Stone was a fucking murdering nut.

A bit like Gerry Adams ordering all those murders only having someone else do his dirty work for him.

But Michael Stone will never maybe have a chance to be our Taoiseach.

I thank posts, not posters & take new posters at face value or otherwise what is the point?

I am he as you are he as you are me
    And we are all together.

    As the Beatles said.
Glad you didnt get butt hurt, Run to the teacher or go full melt down(unlike some, you know who you are)

Excellent, impartial and open minded as always IDF.

I usually say you can dislike individuals rather than nationalities.
