Bit steep. I think it is because of the furore around sexual abuse in England at the moment.

Yes he is an overpaid promiscuous low life football playing scum who is a piss-poor role model and had animal porn on his laptop computer.
But he was not on trial for that, and it was not the judge’s job to sentence him for anything other than grooming and fondling a fifteen year old girl. Grooming and fondling a fifteen year old girl is all he was found guilty of.
As often happens, which is not supposed to happen, the judge let his opinion on the perpetrator’s lifestyle and background influence his sentencing.
If, as already been stated, he had been a judge policeman army officer or even ex prime minister and not a footballer the whole thing would not even seen the inside of a police interview room let alone a court.
