Ahaha you are wrong on this one!!! You're definitely supposed to dispel the air, or why would it be in the instructions? It's less likely to burst and as that naughty SteveB says, it's the chamber for where the gum goes so it does go down the sides in a capillary action, which is not good for the lady at all!!!!
