I see your point, but I don't think it works like that. If everyone gets a pay increase, everything will just go up in price.
Double the wages, double the costs, double the price and we are back to square one.
The reality is the rich will continue to be rich, and as far as I can see the gap between those who have, and those who don't have is widening every year.
I'm not opposed to anyone getting paid a fair wage, I just think the Luas workers already get a very fair wage.
I happen to think there are a lot more deserving of a pay increase than them

I bet a lot of Luas Drivers cant afford to visit the amount of Escorts that you do so maybe being self employed isn't too bad. I was reading an article that an average Luas workers TAKE home pay was between 560 and 670 per week , now that is for working unsociable hours like weekends and nights and if you have a 1500 per month mortgage and cost of living in the capital City being more than the rest of the country I don't think that those wages are excessive. Also unlike the self employed all their wages are taxed as their is no cash jobs with no tax for the public or private worker
or tax back on their Diesel for their private cars .

Is that why all our young guys are emigrating ? The cost of living is seriously bad down south compared to the north all hidden taxes, Anyway ye are missing the point I am trying to make which is just that a luas driver getting a pay rise wont affect me or you so fair play to them for trying. No matter what job you do you should have a wage that allows you to live life without having to be worried about bills all the time.
I don't see why in this day and age they couldn't just replace all the tram drivers with computer controlled trams.
I imagine it won't be long before they are all out of work and replaced with automated systems anyway.
