New Gardai, teachers and nurses don't get this.
How can Siptu possibly justify their current wages never mind an increase?
It's not ridiculous, it's completely frustratingly insane
IBEC would be proud of you, we should all work for food stamps and then everybody would be happy as there would be no jealousy.

Ya I think new guards start on 18 k a year as a trainie
    then up to 27 k and 38 k after 5 years.
But they put up with a lot more shite than a luas driver.
It,s STIPU acting the bollix to justify their existence and take more money off their union member,s, for their own pockets.
Public transport and the like should not be allowed to strike, it should be resolved on the labour courts

    20,472 - 30,003 for a bank teller
Some people who have gone to college for 4 years and starting off can sometimes only expect 24k
I do believe the Bus Eireann drivers are on 72k

Well then pay the Gardaí more , what is yer problem with people looking for a pay rise? These guys also work weekends and late nights so they deserve to earn a good and proper wage and if ye think 30 to 40 grand a year is great wages for working shifts then no wonder this country is fucked up. I bet if someone said that Escorts earn too much £200 ph ye would all be jumping to their defence as that would be popular on here. If everyone working in this country got a 20% pay rise I would be happy and good job I am not from Dublin as ye would be saying I am a luas worker.

I,m self employed and struggle with the money I make and a lot of self employed do as well
I find it hard for them to justify the increases they are looking for

Fair enough and I would like to see self employed also make a good living , but seeing luas workers get a pay rise will not make one bit of difference to you other than make you envious, also if workers have better wages it would give them more money to spend on house Improvements etc and that would be more work for you guys. I see members of my own family who work for big multi nationals bring home around 350 euro a week after tax while these guys make Billions . I also have family self employed and even though last year was good the previous 4 years were tough but you must admit ye made a killing during the Boom.

No not all make a nice living but could have done better.
Put all my money into keeping the business going and now paying a very heavy price.
For the past 6 years it,s been hard.
I have a house worth half of what I paid and my business rates have gone up, all I see is county council workers driving around in brand new vans and I never seem to see them work but in shops drinking tea/coffee

There you go again having a dig at poor council workers , they didn't fuck up this country did they? and they are entitled to drink a cup of coffee,
lots of people are in your situation with properties worth half of the original price, but taking that out on luas and council workers is way off the mark.
Its the likes of the luas and council workers have paid to keep this countries head above water and not the rich guys who take all their money out of the country.
