A contested convention

As long as Trump doesn't get the requisite number of delegates, which seems possible now, as ClarkKent said it will go to a contested convention. Cruz and Kasich don't have to win, they just need to keep Trump from getting a majority of delegates right now.

A contested convention is where no delegate has the majority, therefore there is no clear winner. So the first round they vote for who their constituents wanted.... BUT for the second round of voting they are free to vote however they wish. There is a lot of speculation that should a (likely) contested convention occur, the party might even bring in a completely new candidate who hasn't even campaigned yet.

It is quite the circus at the moment!
