Good, I'm glad he got a jail sentence, we are, at the end of day, human beings, who should not be subjected to such threats, this should send out a clear message to the general public.

I agree, the man should be named, if he had threatened another member of the general public, he would've been named in the article, why should it be any different because he threatened an escort.

Please do what you can for her daughter. Deeply appreciated.

It is amazing how his friend was sticking by him and still saying he was a decent bloke. He was using several disposable numbers to harass her. He not only knew what he was doing, he had likely done it before. Arse hole!

Oh and him being the main bread winner. I'm guessing likely the same goes for the lady he had abused and potentially put out of work! He didn't care about that, so why should anyone care about his. No one put him in that position but himself due to the actions he took.

... Sounds to me like he was a professional abuser. The Gardai deserve credit for keeping her identity private.

The man was a member here. He was caught because he was using this site.

He was caught because he did something bad, not because he was a member of this site. He was also emailing her, so they were able to make the connections. He also told her his username or she would not have known it to give it to the police. It's not a foregone conclusion that being on this site is going to make you a target when the law changes if that is where you are going with that?

It is a useful discussion though.
Did E-I give the guards the 250 ip addresses associated with his pseudonym?
In this case I would commend them for doing so. He was scum who deserved what he got, and more. It's a shame he wasn't named imo as he threatened to expose the escort so turnabout seems fair play.
But in future if the law changes and seeing an escort becomes a crime, will E-I give the guards or psni ip addresses of members here if they wish to investigate? Reviewing would be an admission of a crime after all, already is up North.
Will there be a clearout of ip address history and allow members to use a proxy server if they did wish to continue reviewing?

If there is an investigation going on and the police contacts E-I, the site must cooperate with what they have, ip addresses in this case.

"A childhood friend of the accused told Thomas Creed SC, defending, that the accused man was a straight and decent person who he continued to have regard for. He said he was very shocked by this offending but he was prepared to stand by the man.."

There is always someone prepared to give a character reference to this kind of b.....d.

Well done to the investigating Garda

Most Serial Killers (Abusers) are described by their family and neighbors as 'decent hardworking family man' / or

    as a quiet , 'helpful' , nice guy .

Not a bother with him ever !

What was the case a year ago ? Dwyer ?

    >> Man murdered a vulnerable woman , all came to light based on emails , texts etc.

: guess what ? He too was a pillar of society and a 'respectable' family man with good background ; with 'Status' .

Men like the one in the article : if not caught in time , will lead to worst . : not 'worse' ; to 'worst' x

*CMorris : I'm not challenging you with 'guess what' ; I'm in agreement with your post x
