I think if the government can open shooting up rooms for drug addicts they should consider providing escorts for me.
I visit an escort usually 4 times a week. I think it could be argued I am an addict.

Yes but they are increasing the consequences, so the risk of being caught doing this illegal act is greater than it currently is in the South. This means that sex workers are going to be harder hit. Also, if we are charging more because we are working safely for you then we need a smaller foot fall and to be even more discreet, otherwise how can we justify saying we are safer for you to visit? In order to make the risk lighter for you, these are the kind of measures needed to be taken. It is no longer a matter of considering what is good for us, but also having to consider what is good for our clients.
Many Independent sex workers share and as such in the eyes of the law they are not independent. The fact that they don't work for anyone and no one else gets a cut of their money doesn't matter. The law is always open to manipulation.

Not necessarily, Kate has a point that perhaps it could be argued she won't fuck you over as quickly as a young foreign girl would.
Gardai wouldn't lean on her as successfully as they might with someone new to this country.
Especially someone used to a corrupt police force, someone who might fear the police more

You're not taking into consideration that not all sex workers tour. We need a home and if we rent we would not be able to just find somewhere else, as we wouldn't be able to find anyone to take us. This could effectively make us homeless. What if we have children? They don't give a month's notice and the media attention? Maybe not so bad if don't live here, but many of us do.
Surely you have been here long enough to know that the papers target us at every opportunity. The courts take our money and give it to ruhama. falsely imprison us and accuse us of things that are not true in order to prosecute. Working in a hotel can result in being accused of working in a brothel, even if you are working on your own just because another person might happen to be working there. Sex workers accused of running a brothel simply for working in an apartment previously used by someone else.
You don't like it now because you are now having the finger pointed at you, but did you care about it when it was us taking all the heat?
If I get accused of running a brothel while in a hotel, it gets put on my passport. We have a lot to lose and this is our livelihood, it's not a hobby!

I really would like to know accurately my rights.
What proof the Gardai would require to secure a conviction.
Then at least I could plan my defence accordingly.
Thank you TonyB. I'm pretty water tight and I've done all I can possibly think of to make it as risk free as possible when I work. The consequences for me is a greatly reduced earning potential. I refuse a lot more bookings from new people as I'm a tad paranoid now. Thankfully I do have a lot of regulars and they know where they are going and they know me and how I work, so we can relax and enjoy ourselves. It's still a horrible position to be in, like having your wings clipped. You might notice that my reviews have pretty much stopped too, which again is me seeing mostly the same people and not wanting my regs to needlessly get into trouble.
We all invest something into our work and play things in our own way, but no one will be risk free when the law changes in the North and the South. It's foolish to suggest otherwise.
