Depends on how his disappointing showing in Portrush affects him. I imagine that the course and weather conditions will favour the Americans so the likes off Koepka and Dustin Johnson will be in the shakeup. The best chance of a European winner may be Jon Rahm. BTW I see that Lowry is still being included in the bookies odds even though he has pulled out of the tournament.

Also this week the Senior British Open is taking place at Lytham. I will tip Bernhard Langer to win based on his fine record in the Championship. He is currently at 10/1 to win and that seems a decent price.

The good news for Irish golf just keeps on coming. Adare Manor has been confirmed as the venue for the 2026 Ryder Cup which will be only the second time the competition will have taken place on Irish soil.

Jon Rahm has a 3 shot lead on -8 after the first round. McIlroy is well down the field on -1.
