Johnson has now extended his lead to 5 shots at -17. Still a round and a half to play but it`s already looking good for his chances of winning the tournament and the Fedex Cup overall.

Jon Rahm finishes his round on -13 and is currently 5 shots behind Johnson. McIlroy shot a level par round and is still on -8. Any chance he had of keeping his FedEx title must now be gone.

At the end of the 3rd round Johnson has a 5 shot lead on -19. Xander Schauffele and Justin Thomas are on -14, Jon Rahm is on -13 and US PGA champion Collin Morikawa is on -12.

Got to think a 68 or 69 from Johnson will see him win it , stranger things have happened , one of them needs to go very low anyway

What an incredible win there from DJ. 2 wins & 2nd's in his last 4 starts.

Definitely the best player in the world by a good margin at the moment , be surprised if he doesn't win either the US Open or the masters.

Rory McIllroy will play with Justin Rose and Adam Scott in the first 2 rounds of the US Open this week. Dustin Johnson, Bryson De Chambeau and Tony Finau will be in the same group as will Shane Lowry and the defending champion Gary Woodland. Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa make up another group as do Graeme McDowell, Lucas Glover and Matt Kuchar. Mallow amateur golfer James Sugrue will tee off alongside Bubba Watson and Lee Westwood. Another marquee group will be Phil Mickelson, Jon Rahm and Paul Casey. Brooks Koepka will miss the tournament through injury as will Francesco Molinari due to Covid-19 travel measures. It will still seem strange to have a Major taking place behind closed doors in September but is just another example of what the effects of the pandemic have been on so many levels.
