Lowry has failed to make the cut and Padraig Harrington is almost certaain to miss out when the 2nd round is completed tomorrow morning. The best placed Irish golfer is Mallow amateur James Sugrue. Aaron Rai leads the tournament by 1 shot.on -5. I have to say that I had not heard of most of the golfers at the top end of the leaderboard before now. The field for the Irish Open this year contains plenty of unfamiliar names.

Colm Moriarity made the cut , good to see a club pro getting a well deserved pay day. Caitlin for me is very solid , seems to be enjoying the course at the moment.

Lowry hadn't been here in Ireland for a long time, very poor from him, he won't be happy, harrington got very unlucky , thought he was more +2 rather than +6

At the end of the 3rd round Aaron Rai still leads by a shot on -8. Australian Maverick Antcliff is on -7 and 3 golfers are on -6. Robert Rock had a shocking round and has fallen way down the field on a score of +4. James Sugrue is still the highest placed Irish golfer on +2.

Another delayed start to the 4th round because of frosty and misty conditions earlier today.. Hopefully the tournament will still finish play this evening.

John Catlin wins the Irish Open on a score of -10 and becomes the first American to win the tournament since 1977. Rai finished runner up on -8. The highest placed Irish golfer was Jonathan Caldwell on + 8. A strange tournament in many ways but Catlin won`t care too much about that this evening.

Good win there , i thought he had a great chance going into yesterday but was down the field there today , great round , managed to back him at 4/1 when 1 behind & kept backing him at terrible odds , my heart coming down the last.

This guy will be a star of the future , needs to establish himself back in America , i think PGA tour would suit him.
