Rory recovers with 3 birdies to finish on level par.

The remainder of the tournament will be played without any supporters on the course, but there is a chance the tournament might be abandoned.

The Open Championship is the latest major sporting event to fall victim to the Covid-19 virus. It has been postponed until next year at the same venue Royal St.Georges. Also the Masters tournament which was originally due to be held this week has been rescheduled for mid November. No guarantees it will go ahead then either.

It`s expected that a decision will be announced later this week to postpone the Ryder Cup, which is due to take place at Whistling Straits at the end of September, for a year due to the continuing outbreak of the Covid-19 virus in the USA. Also speculation that the Irish Open which was due to be held at Mount Juliet at the end of May will be rescheduled for the week originally set aside for the Cup.

It’s official that the Ryder cup has been postponed for a year, the players seemed to have had a say in decision, it was felt that crowds were a very important part of competition, they are in USA anyhow
