Ah houl on a wee minute Joggy you're calling Stephanie a racist but a whole lot of the earlier posts were anti Muslim & in my opinion total xenophopic & racist of the highest order. I don't know either of u but I think that a lot of what Stephanie has posted is valid & I agree with most of her points. However some of the earlier posts sounded like a cross between Enoich Powell & that prick Donald Trumph - God Bless America & the rest of the world if by any chance would be the leader of "the free world "- Putin &Enda. coalition would be better :-(.

was thinking that Isis would be planning their own fireworks displays for New Year.........world is full of terrorists.some with guns others with pens!

They were :

Munich Police Chief : there were 5 to 7 suicide bombers (Iraqi and Syrian persons) were to take part in attack ;

For this New Year's Eve in Germany Terror Alert was raised to highest level .

The attacks were foiled by law enforcement.

At this moment -- according to France24 -- Police Chief cannot confirm that there are no more suspects on the run .

Terror Alert level now to have been returned to pre-New Year's Eve celebration level .

Here is where I get conflicted with all this:- 150 odd years ago thousands of starving impoverished people left Ireland on coffin ships because they had no other choice. In America they were not welcome because they were Catholic . Now in 2016 we have a scenario which is similar to 1000 years ago during the crusades. Fuck's sake I thought that human society had evolved a wee bit over a millennium but obviously not. We have had over 800 years of british rule in the north here but I never wanna see the shite I grew up with. That time u trusted nobody-what has changed? Instead of Catholic vs Protestant it's us against them. Which brings up another point- thwre was a protest in Belfast a couple a weeks ago organized by "Protestant's against refugees"(hope I got that right & the counter demonstration was much bigger including several Muslims but mostly Catholics - again it was like years ago 1 side supported the PLO in Palestine while the other put up Israeli flags. Truth is I hate the way this island has changed(apart from the troubles). In my opinion when the borders opened within the EUallowing free movement within the EU that's when things fucked up on this island. Muslims? Arrogant prices from Lithuania Latvia & of course the Russians using fake passports. This wee country has never bin at piece but atleast it's a bit quieter than it used to be. Ah fuck isis ,fuck refugees, fuck a duck- main news on BBC @ 4:30am- 2 people shot in Israel- think it may be a terrorist attack. Bedtime for Barney !!:-)

O.K. first off I want to say at first glance some of the comments about Muslims are unsettling, almost racist.

And they go against every fiber in my being.

But given the atrocious human rights record of all Muslim county's I'm inclined to agree with a lot of comments about Muslims in general.

This was not always my view (everybody has the right to practice there religion & way of life) So I thought.

But now I'm inclined to think if you want to live in the west you should adopt our way of life or look else where.

As far as Putin the bigot is concerned a lot of issues like the Ukraine etc the west was in the wrong.

But f**k it whose side are you on?

The more I see of some posters on this forum, the more I wonder. It must twist a person up inside to carry around all that fear and hate.

Sorry I went a wee bit off the track there - the reason ? I AM DRUNK !! But as I said earlier the main news is still 2 shot in TelAviv - 1st it was a gang thing, then it a homophobic attack, ach & then it was a terrorist attack. Whatever it was a, that is the main BBC news headlines. U know what? Whenever I wake up tomorrow I am gonna quit this houl drink for the new year. Just 1 last thing - 2 shot in Tel Aviv - the BBC aren't biased in any way? They used to be unbiased but then the Tories put the pressure on them. Fuck it I should be in bed a long long time ago. Sorry for talkin shite. !!:-(

The Israel-Palestine conflict is a very divisive issue, Barney. Some people can't form opinions on the matter without picking a side and condemning the other. They ask their televisions to do their thinking for them because they don't have the time and television obliges by abandoning impartiality and telling them who the enemy is.

The pace of modern life doesn't have room for the complexity of modern issues.

The irony in the north here was that during the marching season some pricks along with their union jacks & uvf "flegs" had the Israeli flag up along side swaztica flags - ironic or what? Maybe just stupid. Possibly the Catholics in the north are more supportive to refugees as well as the Palestinian cause is that our ancestors had to leave here or face starvation & that we were or until recently treated as 2nd class or worse citizens.

I tell you what breeds racism. Irish people being impoverished, made homeless and forced to emigrate (we all have a loved 1 in Australia or Canada) because they are denied their benefits while foreigners are being brought in and housed with benefits without question. That's enough to twist and harden even the kindest hearts. It will get far worse yet I fear.
