    Default Getting fit... Loosing some weight

    Looking for recommendations here. I have this friend you see ..... Cough.......He needs to loose a bit of weight and get fit. What is the best way for a guy in his 50's who is carrying a few .... Ok ..... a good few extra Kilos and isn't very sporty or active to do this...... My friend ..... Cough..... Would like to know....


    All suggestions welcome.....

    Only way to lose weight is stay back from the table oh and the bar counter

    You'll need to overhaul your diet almost completely and permanently.

    If it's not permanent you may as well not bother. Weight loss really is like 99% diet.

    I did a 10 day sugar detox right before Christmas, cut out all artificial/refined sugar, only had it from natural sources like fruit. I didn't get to weigh myself unfortunately, as I managed to bring a cold with me back from Ireland, so I spent the entire 10 days sick at home, and only have access to a scale at the gym.

    But despite no workouts for the 10 days, I still managed to lose something, I was definitely looking slimmer around the waist, might've dropped a kilo or so, and that's just from 10 days off sugar. Getting in to a regular program the has a bit of weight training as well as age-appropriate levels of cardio should get things going in a favourable direction.
