Some interesting games in league cup tonight; Everton v Watford. Two managers badly in need of a win. I think Everton will be too strong. Man city v Southampton. Probably last thing u need after a 9 -0 home defeat is an away game at the Etihad Will be comfortable for City I’d say 4 -0

The Man City -Southampton match is the first of 2 meetings between these teams in 4 days. Both managers have made wholesale changes from the weekend line ups but City should still have a comfortable win. Same applies to the Everton-Watford match but with home advantage I think the Toffees will win tonight.

At half time Man City lead the Saints 2-0, Everton and Watford are still 0-0, Leicester are 2-0 up against Burton, Oxford are 1-0 up against Sunderland and Crawley and Colchester are all square at 1-1.

Man City 3 Southampton 1 Southampton would probably have settled for that before KO , at least it was respectable. Everton 2 Watford 0. Poor performance from Watford
    Burton 1 Leicester 3 Crawled 1 colchester 3 Oxford 1 Sunderland 1
    Oxford win on penalties

The result at Goodison could turn out to be crucial for Marco Silva`s chances of staying as Everton manager for the time being anyway. No repeat for Burton of last season`s run to the semi finals of this competition as they were well beaten by Leicester tonight. 3 more matches tomorrow night before the last 8 clubs in the Cup are decided.

Xhaka is not named in the Gunners squad for this game which is just as well. considering what happened at the weekend, and Ozil makes a rare start for them. Kelleher is in goal for Liverpool. I think this match will be decided by one goal and could well go to penalties. In tonight`s other ties I will go Man Utd to beat Chelsea and Wolves to beat Aston Villa by 1 goal in both matches.

I think Liverpool should be strong enough to beat Arsenal. Would like Liverpool to put big effort into league cup. Makes for an unbelievably fixture schedule if they win

Liverpool take an early lead through an OG by Mustafi.
