Default Favorite Horror Films?? Most horrific....?

Firstly let me say that, I got into horror movies a little while ago and been loving them.
Kind of been looking for one that really gets under my skin or that has a good shock value to it.
    There were some good ones.

Human Centipede series was pretty good. The third one was hilarious.

But nothing, I mean, NOTHING, no horror film - has EVER revolted, shocked or disgusted me to the degree I was, when out of morbid curiosity I clicked on the "Fetish's" forum right here on E-I.

I mean, what can I say?
I don't want to break forum rules by "knocking" on it, shall we say, but what...
That is simply some of the most fucked up repugnant shit I have ever bore witness to.

    And to think....
People actually get their jollies out of this shit?? (pun - take it as you will)

I think one of the more shocking elements surrounding it is that - in movies, you know it's scripted, produced and acted out.

Reading peoples posts on their obscure desires, knowing full well that they will go on to act them out in reality.

And the pictures..... oh the pictures.

    Cannot be unseen....

    Forever burned in my memory.

Anyways - let's not deviate to far from the intended topic of this thread.

    Good horror movies??

If you haven't seen "Nymphomaniac" by Lars Von Trier - it's awesome. Brilliant film.
The content is probably tame compared to what goes on amongst some posters here but, to more restrained folk such as myself, it had shock value, and was absorbing throughout.

There's a lot of average stuff out there too - "The Orphan" I just watched yesterday.
Just not believable. Not absolutely terrible but, too exaggerated and unrealistically predictable to really deliver that shock value.

    Throw some names at me....

    Human Centipede villain.

This guy kind of reminds me of Max Hardcore.

    Remember that dude?

Think he's locked up at the moment for movies which were excessively realistic in terms of rape simulation.

    Mmm-hmmm.

Not too many movie buffs on E-I apparently....

I thought with all the sordidness and depravity that goes on around here, they'd be at least one or two other horror fanatics.

Cabin In the Woods is two hours of my life that I will never get back.
    Horrible film.

Hell Raisers are old as hell, wouldn't even chance them. Not into them old school old style production flicks.

Someones probably gonna mention the "Insidious" flicks.

The first half of the first one was good.
The stupidness that followed was a let down.

    The sequels just sucked entirely.

Nymphomaniac was a pretty weak and sensationalist effort from Von Triers. I can see how it might have appealed to you but I don't see how you could drag it into a conversation that you purport to be about your horror interests. Surely Melancholia, Antichrist or Dogville would have been more apt choices for a Von Trier fan ...

Interesting that you mention Insidious though, that word seems appropriate for some reason.

They might be a bit dated now but i loved the hellraiser series and the original Texas chain saw massacre. And more recently a film called WAS starring Melissa George it was from the creators of the saw series. A good film but i bet it took a lot of thinking to come up with a title

Wolf Creek was the movie that put me off going to Horror Movies....and Australia. I think it was the fact that the scenario played out in the movie could very easily occur in reality that scared me most.

I think Melissa George is incredibly hot. She was also in a really good time-twister movie called Triangle. I would marry her and wash her feet every day.
