A directory does not need a forum in order for it to exist and do well. However if the directory chooses to have a forum in order to promote the directory (there is no other reason to have one), then it should invest time and money into making sure that forum is ran well and the people using it have an element of protection that allows us as close to assured anonymity as possible.

When I first joined here there was a very small window of time when there was not a mod around to check what people are writing and it is all very well telling us to 'report and not respond', but when you are faced with possibly 24 hours + before anyone is around to react to that report, then you are left very vulnerable and lives can literally be ruined in that time with how fast news travels on the internet. I would say it is a basic duty of care.

Well said Kate !! I agree 100% with you when u say a directory doesn't need a forum to do well and I would even go as far as to say it would be better without the forum. To me the simple way to stop all this nonsense and bullying would be to abolish the forum. People are talking about feeling punished if the forum was abandoned - I mean really ??? Is it that important to them? To me it's a total waste of time in general and I could gladly survive without it

Back when I started, there was weekend madnessl.. No moderation for a whole weekend, twas mad. Then in 2010 Samlad and co. came on board. There was a request for some poster Moderators. Doc and Benin applied, and peace came back to the kingdom.

As a sex worker who came over from England I have found the forum very helpful for making connections with other Escorts and for understanding how Irish people differ from where I was brought up. There are quite a few issues and differences that are not always obvious when you first get here. It's also handy when you are working on your own and looking for an outlet with people that you don't have to lie to in order to talk to them, but... I guess we could always have a sex worker forum and get rid of the client side

It is a shame that so many sex workers don't feel they can exchange posts on here, as when you think about it, they are largely the ones that are isolated and away from home. They are the ones that could go for weeks without speaking to someone out of work other than the odd phone call home and they are the ones that would benefit most from the forum and yet they don't come on here. I think that speaks volumes in itself. It's not a pleasant environment to be in and there is a total lack of trust.

The forum means different things to different people. For some it is a portal for information as to how to meet escorts and how to behave when they do. For others it is a playground that obviously reminds them of their lost childhood! As someone who has been her 4 months and posted 35 times I can see your view point that you "could gladly survive without it" I am sure most could.

However, as to it being "waste of time in general" I think is rather harsh! I feel it is a valuable part of E-I. It offers a lot of advice to newbies and I am sure it was the info on and interaction within the forum that started a lot of guys seeing escorts. There are a lot of guys who would have found it very difficult to pick up the phone and ring a lady for the first time. But after chatting with both clients and escorts on here and maybe using the PM system they made the move and never looked back.

But a debate about the usefulness of the forum and whether it should be shut down or not is moving away from the OP's topic of how to improve moderation for all users of the forums.

Me and Lucy Chambers go way back. As much as we would kill each other on the boards, I never ever thought she would take it personal and she didn't.

The escort banned today was out of order, uncalled for and way too personal.

There is a limit on what can be said and what can not be. There is a limit in everything.

Seems to me some are going very low, in an unacceptable way.

I wasn't posting last night nor I did for days, Sophie didn't provoked anyone, therefore, the mods didn't clean after us at all.

Do not bring my name into these these things, they're nothing to do with me nor am I interested, you reap what you sow. It would be better if instead of ladies being trolls/trolled or whinging about the above you stop trying to bait them all into reactions and got on with life. I think it would be a bad mistake to consider closing the forum altogether.

I am fairly new here. I would never have lifted the phone on a standard advertising site - I would have been too nervous that I was talking to pimps, or walking into dangerous scams. Lurking on the forun for a little while allowed me to be confident that the people and profiles were real (mostly).

There is also a huge amount of useful guidance. After a few weeks I knew that I had made most of the mistakes possible, and learned a bit from them!!

Last nights thread was disgusting.
There's also a lot of hypocrisy on this thread and people posting on it were fine with the lax moderation when they were the ones doing the bullying and posting personal information and attacks.
The forum is either very nasty or boring now mostly and a lot of it is a legacy of then.

This forum will never be closed. It help the site remain high in rankings. Real names are bandied around here all of the time. Don't tell anyone your name. Join using a fake email. That's it, no need for dramatics, it's just the way it is. When my real.name was printed here certain escorts thought it amusing. Not so funny when it's you though I guess.
