If Doc invented a time travel device that Marty and himself used to travel forwards in time to today's date - and we don't have any time travel devices floating around the place at present - does that not mean that the time loop can never be satisfactorily completed and Doc and Marty instantly get erased from the time line and they never existed?
So Back to the Future is just a figment of your imagination ...
