Exclamation New EOTM Rules — Are they fair, are they good?

There was a thread posted earlier today by a moderator announcing a change in rules for the Escort of the Month Competition. In this post an escort was named as the winner of the competition for October.

The main changes to the rules was the calculation of points based on the number of green stars received during the month and the dropping of the rule where reviews will only count when a) the reviewer has held a message boards account for six months and b) their reviews will only be counted from their tenth review.

It now appears that anyone can register on EI and leave a positive review for an escort. They no longer are required to be registered for 6 months and their first review counts towards an escort winning the coveted title.

    However:

If you go to the General Chat forum and look at Sticky: Escort of the Month: Hall of Fame and Competition Rules

    https://www.escort-ireland.com/board...petition-Rules

you will see that the rules are listed as follows:

As with all competitions, there are rules to ensure that everything is fair:

For each review submitted, a star ratings given for each area of the review will have a points value. The higher the outcome for each area selected, the more points that review will be worth. The escort with the highest points value by the end of the month will be declared the winner.
The month that the escort is announced the winner will be the winner based on the points totalled from the previous month; i.e. 'Miss September' is calculated from the reviews submitted in August, and so on.
Reviews will only count when a) the reviewer has held a message boards account for six months and b) their reviews will only be counted from their tenth review.
If a client resubmits a review for an escort that they have already visited, only their first review will have a points value. In any event, the new review will always replace the old review.
If we believe that a review is fake, we may disqualify an escort from the competition for the month. If there are more serious cases of cheating, we may disqualify escorts from all future competitions.
Escorts cannot win the competition two consecutive months. In the event of an escort receiving the highest points a second month in a row, the person in second place will take the winning spot.
Reviews that are submitted from a masked (proxified) or non-Irish/non-Northern Irish IP address will be deleted.
Once the winner has been announced for a particular month, any review points that are received for that month thereafter will not be counted or carried over into the next month.

You will notice it begins with “there are rules to ensure that everything is fair”

It also includes the rule “Reviews will only count when a) the reviewer has held a message boards account for six months and b) their reviews will only be counted from their tenth review.”

These were the rules of the competition for a long time and are sill in the sticky on the forum for everyone to see.

So by all normal reason and in all fairness any review submitted last month should have to comply with these rules surely? After all, the rules are there to ensure fairness in the completion.

But In the post the Moderator posted earlier the reviews of the winner announced do not comply with the above rules, those in the sticky.

Under the rules which were posted today — 2 days after the close of the completion for Miss October, a different escort has won the competition to that of who should have won under the rules that we all knew about and were posted on the forum for everyone to see, both escorts and clients alike.

How can a competition operate fairly when the rules are changed after the competition closes?

This is totally unfair to the escort who has met the requirements of the existing rules but is now told “sorry - because we changed the rules someone else has won the title". It is especially unfair as the Official rules are still in place.
