Damn... it boggles really the mind reading it, it's the height of stupidity the way it's worded.

"pays, gives, offers or promises to pay or give a person (including a prostitute) money or any other form of remuneration"

Okay, I'm going to offer every attractive female board member here a fee in exchange for sex... There, I just committed a criminal offense LOL
The bill makes no exemptions for married couples. Completely absurd and stupid.

    EDIT: (instead of double posting)

Even if you've never visited an escort in the past and never intend to in the future, you should care about this. It's grossly interfering with anyone who's in any form of relationship, married or otherwise. That's a step too far from any government, our private lives and sex lives should be off limits to the state.

On the positive note though, it's totally unenforceable with an insane burden of proof before it ever gets going.

I know several girls that had their laptops and phones taken in raids by the Gardai. Or that's what they told me.
I'm quite sure the ladies here are more clued in than most of us here.

Electronic is traceable if you have a point to start from. If they can't find a transaction, they have no evidence.

You are probably right, but for some of us, the consequences of appearing in court and newspapers are truly life-changing, so I for one will take some reasonable precautions to reduce the chances of that.

For this very reason I stopped going to the locations most of us know.

I favour some sort of barter system in the future. I was quite good at metalwork in school, I bet the ladies would love a set of fire irons
