Very delicate topic, and one that has no easy answer. It's obviously terrible seeing all the images on the news of late. I found this article during the week and its a fairly interesting no biased view of what's happening over there.
My own personal view on the matter is they cease to become refugees and become economic migrants once they leave a country that there is no danger to their lives. Example being going from Syria to neighboring countries in fear of their lives is a refugee, not quite satisfied with the country and crossing the Mediterranean Sea to Italy or Greece and putting their lives at risk is an Economic migrant and should not be treated with the same sympathy. A lot of these so called refugees won't be happy until they are being housed and feed in the UK, Ireland or Germany. Fussy for a Refugee don't you think!!
However we need to do something about this crisis, and I would be in favor of supporting the charity organisations in setting up communes in neighboring countries that would allow for a smooth Repatriation process. Something along the lines of A World Aid style event would raise a lot of money and awareness as well.
