I have seen rates such in the €100 per hour been paid for contract work, however this is not for everyone. There are a number of downsides unfortunately, namely you do not get paid if you are sick or on holiday. You also do not have an employer that pays or partly pays into a medical and pension plan for you.

I think it is fair to say that generally people want to get paid as much as they can for the job that they do. They are also some out there that enjoy their work so much that they would still do it for half the rate, however people still need money to live, pay bills etc.
