    Default I'm not a lawyer!!!!

But I have been concerned about all this before so I've done quite a bit of reading about this. I can't say for definite whether it's illegal or not and I'm obviously not giving legal advice here.

Firstly, probably the most relevant legislation is contained within
Irish Statute Book, Acts of the Oireachtas, Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Act, 1993

    Particularly sections 7 to 12.

Section 7 refers to solicitation in a public place, not relevant here.
Section 8 similar to section 7 but from the other side of the transaction.
Section 9 refers to pimping essentially, controlling girls etc.

Section 10 is an interesting one, and most relevant here I think. If you read it, you'll notice that it refers to living off the "earnings of the prostitution of another person" Again this is pimping, not independent girls working for themselves.

Section 11 is about brothels, again this is different to independent girls working for themselves.
Section 12 is just an amendment to prior legislation for use in searches.

There doesn't seem to be any legislation specifically covering independent girls working for themselves indoors. I've heard of lots of girls being "raided" by the Gardai but never of an independent being arrested, much less charged with anything.

Anyway, when working in a hotel the Gardai don't need a warrant to open a door as the manager can let them in. Secondly make very sure you see their IDs etc and that they show you the warrant if relevant.

I'm sorry to hear that you'll not be working here anymore girls, you're both lovely and I wish I could have managed to see you again, but you have to do what you feel comfortable with. So I wish you the absolute best of luck in whatever you decide!!!!!!!!!

    That's gay.

Argue the fuckers down. Say what you're doing is completely legal etc. In my experience there's a huge range of intelligence in policemen... some are the dimmest you'll ever meet (while some are really bright)... so you may have to explain simple things to them... eg. they're not "busting" anything.

Don't be saying "umm...", you're running a straight business, pure and simple and they're harassing you. Even if they catch you naked, it just happened between consenting adults, nothing to do with money at all (but you should probably try to avoid that as much as possible), and if it's one of the brighter policemen that's on your case... there might be some furthur reasons for why he's doing it so try to find out.

Also, I think we should all take this as our cue to be extra vigiliant for those morally corrupt PROSTITUTION agencies going around and make sure to report them immediately when we see them .

I don't know. Tell them you'll complain them to their superior officers for lying to citizens if they're bothering you again. You just offer males your time for companionship, they've got it all wrong, are harrassing you badly you and should be out getting real criminals, murderers and thieves, and harassing poor women trying to make ends meet, or at least real prostitutes. Also tell them that woman is a lying busybody getting stupid ideas because she's jealous of you. You were just meeting them legally, she has a dirty mind and called you a whore etc.

Sorry to have to say this Malena and I hope you are'nt offended by it, but you are coming across as being somewhat naive here. In Ireland it has been proven beyond doubt that politicians, the clergy, bankers, accountants, solicitors, property developers, economists, journos, judges and finally gardai all lie.

Police promotion, is to a large extent based on service record and therefore an ability to gather evidence, make a case and achieve a conviction are important attributes for a garda with ambition. Lying and the fabrication of evidence are nothing new. In addition, in certain areas, the gardai can be put under pressure by the community, local public representatives, the media or local businesses to tackle what could be perceived as either criminal or anti-social or inappropriate activity. This could result in a garda drive against such things as drug-gang related violence, drink driving or prostitution as examples.

And remember that the Gardai are duty bound to investigate every complaint made to them. In this case, if the Gardai can run escorts out of a town/city using a little intimidation, they save on paperwork, trying to put a case together, court time and also get brownie points from their superiors and the wider community for cleaning the place up.
Sorry girls, but you are an easy target, especially when you dont know the law/your rights and dont have legal representation.

    Default It is illegal

Police told me also it is illegal. It is only legal in the UK & Northern Ireland (tho Northern Ireland police are trying to stop it thru loopholes...). But in south, it is illegal, but they dont focus on busting unless its a brothel, or sometimes they leave agencies alone if they pay them off.... and they will go for independants if there has been a complaint in the hotel by staff or guests.

I was in Ireland last summer, and I was warned against staying in Cork hotels. That they make the habit of printing off the photos of escorts who run the ad in Cork, and they look out for them. This is why I never went to Cork. I didnt want to have a hotel manager not let me stay there because I was recognized. I mentioned this already to a few people.... and it was last summer.

I dont know if someone told on Liz, or someone told on the 2 girls, but I do know that Cork hotels print off all girls ads and watch for when they book in. And THAT IS A FACT...... THE REST OF ALL THESE ACCUSATIONS ARE HERESAY.

AND I AM NOT NOT TAKING A SIDE. I AM SAYING WHAT I KNOW ABOUT CORK. And what i know about the police in the south of Ireland. They have said it many times to many girls... it is illegal.

I understand the worry. It's natural. But there is so many things to come up with. If they were to catch you in the middle of it, its just sex. There is no transaction.

I studied law. Not in Ireland, but I know how to read the stuff.
Anyways, there are plenty of people in here who will assist you with legal question.
And as mentioned, charge for something else. Sell people a piece of paper or something.
    It's just so basic.
As far as i can see now, you might be charged, but they have to prove it. They accused so they have to come up with the evidence. You just have to deny. It is that simple
