Lots of people will be surprisingly naive and indeed uneducated.
Lots of poor people in Colombia, desperate for money or even to clear a debt to some thugs can get bamboozled into these situations.
Nor would it surprise me if the Irish/Scottish pair in Peru had no clue about the likely consequences for drug smuggling there or the type of prison system that awaited them.
These people are called"mules".Others stand to make the big profits.
At one time , I heard the womens' prison in Mountjoy was 50% full of S. Africans both black and white.........female drug mules , desperate for money in a country without an effective social welfare system.

She should have become an escort in Ireland...she would have made a mint, probably only getting 5 or 10 grand for being a drug mule..
    What a waste...

You wouldn't fit 5-10 grand of anything in a laptop so she couldn't be paid that much.
She likes a line and brought her own just like people bring tea they like to places where it could be risky to get.

    She won't do it again.

hope they change their mind or she can buy her way out ..
she doesn't deserve death penalty for that imo...but if that's the law of the land she should have known better,
but to me something doesn't add up?? she's successful and beautiful why be a drug mule??
hell I would have paid €1000 an hr with her if she was here..

The governments ban drugs hoping to keep folks safe? But allow you alcohol and tobacco?

I'm really sorry for her and I hope trough diplomatic efforts and petitioning that she couild be saved from such a fate but I have to say, how stupid is that ? When the punishment is death, regardless how unfair that that is (and clearly is) you keep your hands clean of any drugs. If you can't, you just don't go there, plenty of other countries where they won't kill you for that.
