I'd be willing to bet that the majority of clients do something like this the first time - I know I did. It was only after a wee bit of reading on the site that I realised how to behave.

I also think that most people who spot an "obvious punter" are those who have been there themselves.

Before finding this site I would not have thought it at all notable if someone was outside an apartment block asking for codes or directions.

It might be worth someone adding a short section on Discretion to the Tips for Newbies sticky.

That's a fair point but it is not innocent passers by that are the concern. It is suspicious and nosey neighbours and there are plenty of those around.

Prime example for me was I was coming out of a known apartment block with a friend, this guy walks up to the door, you could see he was nervous, phone to his ear and repeating the keypad directions being given to him, checking himself making sure he looked ok, well as ok as he could, anyway we walked off and I mentioned to the person I was with how obvious it was where he was going, the person I was with was shocked, never even suspected what was going on.
That is all very well, but if there are any suspicions whatsoever with the local residents, that one person with their phone to their ear saying the number of the apartment loud enough for other to hear, could just be the confirmation that they need to start watching with a vengeance or report the apartment to the caretaker.

If it happened once in a blue moon it would not be a problem, but once or twice a Week and it can look odd, any more and people are starting to wonder what is going on.

The bigger the city , the less people notice or care, if it's not in their faces.

Each block has it's residents and just because they live in an apartment does not mean they may not have concern for their environment or not be religious and against sex work.

Never assume that people don't care or that they are not watching out for something.
