Sounds like an infringement of civil rights. If it said do you have a Catholic Girlfriend, or is your girlfriend non Irish etc there would be an outcry. So why demonise sex workers (independent obviously, not those coerced into the industry). Private life is what it says PRIVATE.

Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

I say sign it and but just don't arrange an outcall to the office.
I agree with this although I once had an outcall to an NHS on-call room in a hospital.........the consultant was on call that night....;-)

Is there a clause banning one night stands as well? Is having casual sex with a drunk partner more acceptable than paying for sex with a sober one?

Sounds like your friend's work have a particularly unhealthy interest in private bedroom activities. He doesn't need to worry though. The Gardai clearly reckon it's fine for even their own members to use sex workers so he's in the clear.

If Gardai name and shame without the new laws, soliciting is purely a public order offense. so your employer will be sacking you for that. IF the new laws come into play, the burden of proof is going to massive on the gardai. So once again, you will have every reason to believe your employer doesnt have two legs to stand on. they have to prove that you bought sex. the new laws in NI demand that the punter sleeps with the woman first. So lets see if the gardai will go that far. And certainly your boss wont be there in the room with you. Or maybe he will be?

Unions would have no legal right whatsoever to place it in a contract as it is perfectly legal to visit an escort.
Having said that , i wouldn't forsee somebody taking a union to court on the issue.

Any job that sees no problem in interfering in your private life in such a specific manner may be worth walking away from

Know your rights, bro. It will only take one person/punter to take a case against the cops for people to backtrack on what is acceptable in one's private life. but most people dont want to exacerbate the "name and shame". thats why we havent heard from any of the limerick guys "solicited" by the gardai
