    The problem is it cannot be used with satnavs etc. What good is it if you have to locate an address on a map and then write down directions for where you want to go.

    Its up to the SatNav people to incorporate it into their software, I'd imagine that's doable.

    Mr McDonnell also said he believes the Eircode will lead to discrimination. He said that real estate websites will price properties according to their postcode.

    That said it is a bit ridiculous that the amounts of searches are limited and that they didnt have a deal with Garmin or google or whoever to facilitate directions.

    Satnavs need a system which is based on coordinates i.e. latitude and longitude. The new eircode system is not. Hence it can't be used. The loc8 system can. And they paid €27m for it. I feel another computerized voting coming on.

    Companies can pay for the Eircode Address Database that does include geo-coordinates and other information, the problem is that companies haven't paid for this yet and are bitching about it. Once Garmin, Google etc. pay then it will work on all of those.

    It's doable. Works in the UK, (and the North).
