I don't really understand your distinction between getting a 'normal' job supposedly cash in hand on top of collecting dole and doing this. A single Mother who is in debt, or in crisis and possibly about to be homeless is going to bridge that gap however she needs to and who is anyone here to say how she does that? A regular job might not be possible if she has young children and we all know it cost a fortune for child care. Maybe an hour here and there or 30 mins is enough to keep her afloat? She could also already have a job, but still not be earning enough, not even enough to pay tax. Remember you can earn something like 8 or 9 grand in the UK before you need to pay tax. How is she meant to declare her earnings as an Escort when no one will acknowledge it as work?

I don't agree with taking benefits when you don't need them, but believe me, if someone hits rock bottom and it's about to affect their children, then I think you will do it whichever way you can. It's when that method goes beyond reversing the problem and puts you in credit you need to do the right thing and stop claiming benefits.
