The “RA” is an illegal organisation and again could easily be refused.
Gay marriage is not illegal, however.

Of course, best way is to politely refuse without giving a reason.
But for religious people it wouldn't be. Basically you will have people in uproar now because they will be forced to go against their beliefs.

What if I wanted a Muslim to handle pork over the counter? Should he do it even it its against his beliefs? Should the state rule over personal beliefs?

Oh yes I understood that and in turn was saying the same from the other(customers) side. Either side could have just swallowed their pride and moved on without the need for public & legal challenges.

No, because the RA is not a political party and TBF you probably wouldn't get out of the shop alive to try and sue anyone(same on both sides!)
What about the Catholic church? Should a Catholic be forced to print an anti Catholicism slogan or even vice versa.

State rules against personal beliefs all the time.
When did we last burn a witch?
    Stone an adulterer to death?
    And so on...........

I'm glad there has been some sense and justice that has come over this cake row. For too long people in N.I have been able to discriminate and go against equality under the guise of religion. If you follow the news, or go into some areas of N.I you will see blatant racism and inequality against "minorities" is rife.

Ashers bakery(who refused to bake the cake) have had no problems for many years baking halloween cakes/buns so they rightly can not discriminate against the gay community and use religion as their excuse.
I for one, and i suspect many others are off the opinion that Ashers bakery were deliberately targeted because of their religious beliefs. The people involved in this type of PC behaviour would have be better served, if that was the case, by following the adage "If you want respect for yourself, then give respect to others".
With the political storm this has caused in NI, where religious beliefs are so intertwined with political party support on all sides, where this case is concerned i cannot see how this ruling is going to advance any issues the people who brought this case may have wished for.
A clasical case of winning a battle, but ultimately losing a war imo

my point is that sometimes you have to be cute in life and just bake the cake. how simple it would have been and they would have avoided all this commotion.

for example someone on this forum could say something i dont agree with. i could do two things: get into an argument with them that gets me no where or just ignore it and get on with my sad happy life.
Or perhaps with the polital backlash that this case looks like creating, cuter for the people looking for the cake to go elsewhere.

Even if the state was despotic? I'd rather individual liberty rule such as Escorts being allowed to do escorting and clients being allowed to pay. Too much state interference in society now.

The law is a strange being and words in the mouths of lawyers mean different things to us lesser (and less well paid) plebs. Lawyers like to keep it complicated and counter-intuitive.
    County Courts are civil courts.
County Courts hear a wide range of civil actions, consumer claims, and appeals from magistrates' courts.
There are seven County Court divisions in Northern Ireland.
    1. Antrim
    2. Ards
    3. Armagh and South Down
    4. Belfast
    5. Craigavon
    6. Fermanagh and Tyrone
    7. Londonderry
So, there is no Belfast County, (or Ards, or Craigavon County) but there is a Belfast County Court.

I too am glad there has been some sense and justice. This is a blow to the religious right, the same clan (klan) that would limit choice and ban everything including escorts.

Solve Israel/Palestine later on tonight. Not finished with Ashers yet.
Besides, things have been too quiet around here lately.
