Spanky Panky (03-05-15)
Just to clarify a couple of things;
To talk about this topic in a positive tone wasn't my intention because it's addressing posters and clients who are constantly and always trying to discredit Ruhama and the church but never being pro-active themselves even when being pro-active can be as simple as donating to a legal fund.
Secondly, the idea of the union came about quite simply because the International Union of Sex Workers is actually a real thing and they do real work, so it can be done?
I'm only focusing on those individuals who you'll find constantly posting in threads back lashing against the Ruhama side of things but won't bother to donate a small sum to help a great cause.
It gets confusing as to who you are addressing dublad.
Yes I've moaned about Ruhama and TORL, but then I read their submission and have listened to a lot of the rubbish they have said about sex workers, which I know not to be true. I have supported Laura and I will continue to do so in any way I can. I have also been pro-active where I can be and have donated.
As has already been mentioned, a lot of people donate anonymously, so you have no way of knowing who is donating on here and who isn't, so to claim that the people discrediting ruhama are not donating is not really fair.
You were not specific in saying who the union should be for. In this case people are moaning about Ruhama as they want to make the client a criminal, so really the client are in need of help as much as anyone, but I don't see how that is possible?
As I mentioned before in Ireland we have SWAI and they are very pro-active and doing what they can to support sex workers. It is not a union as such, but then it is still in its infancy and there will be much more it can offer as time goes by and it grows in numbers and strength.
Ruhama are scandalous, as 90% of the funds that they get to help sex workers go into administration costs, i.e. it lines the pockets of the people working within it. No real charity would get away with that kind of cost distribution and yet it is not only accepting over here, but there funds have been increased yearly. If SWAI had a third of the money they have they could do amazing things that really help protect sex workers and clients. If Laura had a third of what they had, she could have a real chance to throw some sense into this ridiculous situation and support both sides of the fence.
As I said before, better to not be negative when expecting people to part with their money, especially when you don't actually know if they have been doing so already or not. When you donated did you do it with your forum name?

Sorry to say this but this Lobby appears to be far too powerful and looks unstoppable at the moment ?
